Putrajaya, 20 July 2026 – Nexus International School Malaysia is celebrating an exceptional set of International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) results, with two learners achieving the maximum score of 45 points as the Class of 2026 significantly outperformed global benchmarks.

The cohort achieved an average score of 34 points, exceeding the 2026 global average of 30.9. Demonstrating the strength of the graduating class, 18% of learners scored 40 points or above, compared to the global average of 10.1%, while seven learners were awarded the prestigious IB Bilingual Diploma.

Leading this year’s cohort are Evelyn Teng and Chloe Poh, who both achieved the perfect IB score of 45 points—an extraordinary accomplishment attained by only a small percentage of IB Diploma candidates worldwide.

While their ambitions lie in different fields, both learners share a common experience. Evelyn Teng – From IB Diploma to Medicine at HKU

Malaysian learner Evelyn Teng, a Weekly Boarder, has been awarded a full scholarship to study Medicine at The University of Hong Kong under the prestigious Distinguished MedScholar (DMS) Programme—an elite medical pathway combining clinical training with advanced research opportunities for high-achieving future doctors.

Inspired by her passion for science and helping others, Evelyn is looking forward to beginning the next stage of her journey.

“I was really keen on studying the IB programme , and Nexus offered everything I was looking for—academic stretch, leadership opportunities, supercurricula and a multicultural, close-knit community. Boarding at Nexus made school life so much more convenient since I was a weekly boarder, and this gave me the best of both worlds. I could focus on school during the week while still spending quality time with my family on the weekends. It also saved me from long commutes, giving me more time to learn, rest and enjoy campus life.”

Evelyn was an active member of the school community, serving as President of the Student Council, leading conferences and the Nexus Model United Nations, and mentoring younger learners in the school’s World Scholar’s Cup and STEM Club co-curricular activities.

Chloe Poh – From Full Boarding to Law at HKU

Joining Evelyn at The University of Hong Kong is international learner Chloe Poh, a Full Boarder from Hong Kong, who will pursue the highly competitive Bachelor of Business Administration (Law) & Bachelor of Laws (BBA (Law) & LLB) double degree.

For Chloe, the Nexus IBDP enabled her to pursue her academic ambitions while nurturing her passion for music. By offering Music as an IB Diploma subject, Nexus gave her the opportunity to develop her talents both academically and creatively. She also embraced leadership opportunities, including leading the orchestra for the school’s annual production and taking on leadership roles within co-curricular activities. These experiences, which are an integral part of the Nexus IB Programme, helped her grow as a confident, well-rounded learner.

As a full time boarder, boarding became far more than accommodation—it became a second home where she developed independence, resilience and lifelong friendships while balancing the demands of the IB Diploma Programme.

“Living in boarding taught me how to manage my time, become more independent and support those around me. The friendships I built and the encouragement from teachers and friends made Nexus feel like home.”
