Malaysia’s award-winning PBSA operator champions student wellbeing, academic success, and globally benchmarked residential living

Kuala Lumpur, 25 May 2026 — Taylor’s Residence has been recognised at the prestigious Asia-Pacific Student Accommodation Association (APSAA) Awards 2026 in Adelaide, winning three awards in recognition of its ongoing commitment to creating meaningful student living experiences centred around wellbeing, belonging, and holistic development.

The APSAA Awards are among the region’s most respected recognitions within the student accommodation sector, celebrating institutions and operators that demonstrate excellence and innovation in shaping the future of student living.

Competing alongside leading universities, residential colleges, and purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) operators across the Asia-Pacific region, Taylor’s Residence received recognition in the following categories:

• Excellence in Student Experience (University Category)
• Excellence in Facility Development or Management (University Category)
• Excellence in Sustainable Development Goals

This latest achievement further builds on Taylor’s Residence’s continued efforts to strengthen the student experience, following previous accolades including the APSAA Excellence in Student Experience (University Category) award last year, as well as recognition at the Times Higher Education Awards Asia Outstanding Support for Students and Outstanding Contribution to Regional Development.

The achievement marks another major milestone for Taylor’s Residence, reflecting its long-standing belief that student accommodation plays a vital role in shaping the overall university journey – supporting not only academic success, but also personal growth, community connection, and wellbeing.

As Malaysia strengthens its ambition to become a leading regional education hub, Taylor’s Residence believes the quality of student accommodation must evolve alongside international expectations around wellbeing, safety, community, and academic success.

Sheena Angelina, President of Taylor’s Residence, said the awards reflect the growing importance of professionally managed, purpose-built student accommodation in supporting Malaysia’s higher education growth.

Among the initiatives recognised were Taylor’s Residence’s award-winning R!SE Residential Living Programme focused on Physical, Emotional, Social, and Intellectual wellbeing, as well as continuous enhancement of resident-centred facilities and communal spaces.

Also recognised was REGrow, a resident-led sustainability initiative aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs), which empowers students to actively participate in food waste transformation through black soldier fly larvae bioconversion practices, while embedding sustainable living practices into everyday residential life.

Elaine Yap, Senior Vice President of Student Accommodation, said the awards are a strong testament to Taylor’s Residence’s long-term commitment towards building meaningful student living experiences centred around wellbeing, belonging, holistic development, and academic success.

“If we are not building for student wellbeing, then we are not truly delivering a student living experience.

Today’s students need far more than just accommodation. They need environments that support wellbeing, safety, community connection, personal growth, and academic success.”

Kelly Lana Lu, a student resident from Taylor’s Residence shared that the experience went far beyond accommodation alone.

“Living at Taylor’s Residence has given me more than just a place to stay. I’ve met people from different backgrounds, made meaningful friendships, and became more involved in the residence community throughout my university journey.

Being part of the Student Resident Council also gave me opportunities to organise events, work with different people, and learn more about leadership and teamwork. The environment here feels welcoming and supportive, and the management staff have always been friendly and helpful whenever support was needed.

Staying here has also helped me with my personal development and independence, and I’m really grateful for the experiences and opportunities I’ve gained along the way.”
